Falls at Creve Coeur Lake

Falls at Creve Coeur Lake

The Falls at Creve Coeur Lake. Legend has it that a lovelorn Indian girl died of a broken heart here. Her tears created the falls. Creve Coeur means broken heart.

Softball on Banks of River des Peres

This was taken off the River des Peres greenway/trail in South St. Louis City. The water in the background is the River des Peres. It was a horridly dreary day.

Today's dailyshoot.com assignment, #62, is "One man's trash is another's treasure. Make a photo of something discarded or abandoned today."

Ice Mound in Carondelet Park with Rainbow

Here's the ice mound in Boathouse Lake in Carondelet Park. It's probably over 8 feet tall as I saw some people standing next to it and it was much taller than them.

I also caught a rainbow caused by the spray of the fountain.

Carondelet Park - Horseshoe Lake

It was finally warm enough to take Jake over to Carondelet Park for a walk. You can see the rock bridge that goes across Horseshoe Lake in the background. The little rock house off to the left is a restroom.

Carondelet Park - Horseshoe Lake

This is the view from the other side of the Lake. You can see the ducks on the pond. A couple of the ducks are actually geese. The biggest was abandoned in the park last winter.

These my basset Jake's pawprints in the snow.  It's alot harder to take a picture of pawprints in the snow than I thought.  But I think this shot is better than my first attempt.  The snow is deeper, giving more contrast.

Snowflakes Falling

Photo taken from my porch into Carondelet Park. It's snowing!

I tried this challenge as part of daily assignment to photograph a light source. I thought catching the snowflakes would be neat as they fell in front of said light source.

Ice Mound at Boathouse Lake

This is Boathouse Lake in Carondelet Park in South St. Louis City. We've had a recent frigid snap. They keep the fountain on for the fish and the waterfowl. That white mound is ice!

This wasn't quite what I had in mind for today's photo, but the opportunity presented itself.  It was  and still is incredibly cold today.  When I was getting out of my car, I noticed the heat radiating from the car was creating shadows on the garage door.
